About Us

Helping pet owners across Hungary provide the best care for their companion animals

Our Story

vamuwaf.eu was born from a simple observation: while Hungary has a rich tradition of animal husbandry and a deep cultural connection to pets, there was a lack of centralized, English-language resources for the country's growing international community of pet owners. We set out to fill that gap by creating a comprehensive, reliable, and practical guide to pet care in Hungary.

Based in Budapest, our team brings together a passion for animals and a commitment to responsible pet ownership. We believe that well-informed pet owners are better equipped to provide the care, nutrition, and environment that their animals deserve. Every article we publish is researched thoroughly, drawing on veterinary science, breed expertise, and the practical experiences of Hungarian pet owners.

Our Mission

We aim to be the most trusted English-language resource for pet care information in Hungary. Our content is guided by three principles:

1

Accuracy

Every piece of information we publish is fact-checked against reputable veterinary sources and updated regularly. We reference organizations like the FCI, WSAVA, and FEDIAF to ensure our advice meets professional standards.

2

Practical Value

We focus on actionable advice that pet owners can implement immediately. From choosing the right food brand to finding a vet in Budapest, our content is designed to solve real problems.

3

Compassion

We advocate for the welfare of all animals. Our articles promote adoption, responsible breeding, and humane treatment. We partner with organizations that share these values.

What We Cover

Our content spans the full spectrum of pet ownership in Hungary:

  • Breed guides: In-depth profiles of Hungarian and international dog and cat breeds, including temperament, care requirements, and suitability for different lifestyles. Read our Hungarian Dog Breeds guide for an example.
  • Care essentials: From nutrition and grooming to veterinary care and seasonal tips, our guides cover the basics and beyond. Our Cat Care Guide is a great starting point.
  • Adoption resources: Information about shelters, the adoption process, and post-adoption care. See our Pet Adoption in Hungary article for details.
  • Hungarian context: Laws, regulations, climate considerations, and cultural aspects of pet ownership specific to Hungary.

Our Commitment to Quality

We take content quality seriously. All articles are reviewed for accuracy before publication and updated as new information becomes available. We clearly date our content so readers know how current the information is. We also welcome corrections and suggestions from our readers through our contact page.

We maintain editorial independence and do not accept payment for product recommendations. When we link to external resources, we choose organizations based on their credibility and relevance, such as the FCI, International Cat Care, and the World Animal Protection organization.
